About

This is a live theatrical production, with music, that tells the story of Saints Perpetua and Felicity and their fellow Christian Martyrs at the Roman Amphitheater in Carthage, Africa, in the year 203 A.D. The story is told intertwined with the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary from the Holy Gospels.

The play is adapted from the Diary of Saint Perpetua who was from a noble Roman family. Her diary is the first recorded writings by a female Christian. Because of her Roman nobility, Perpetua could read and write, which afforded her the ability to keep a diary during her arrest and the time leading up to her martyrdom.

Felicity was a slave who was a fellow catechumen and close friend to Perpetua.  It was because of their steadfast faith in Christ that they were condemned to be sent to the arena for refusing to deny their Christian Faith and burn incense to the Roman Emperor and the Roman gods.

This is a very heartwarming story that is an example of what our faith can cost us, while at the same time showing what true love of Christ really is and an example for us all.

Some of the events depicted in this play may not accurately represent all historical facts and figures.  While I have made efforts to portray certain aspects of history authentically, creative liberties have been taken for storytelling purposes.
